Section 1- Elect Pilgrims and - Those who are chosen
To those who reside as aliens (1)
Although the Christians were dispersed across the region because of their faith, strangers and dispersed, And although they were oppressed and despised by the world around them nevertheless they were highly esteemed in God’s eyes because of their identity.
We may be strangers and aliens in this present world system. But our homeland is heaven itself - The Book of Hebrews remind us “Yet they looked for a future dwelling our heavenly hope”
“It was in faith that all these persons died. They did not receive the things God had promised, but from a long way off they saw them and welcomed them, and admitted openly that they were foreigners and refugees on earth. Those who say such things make it clear that they are looking for a country of their own.
They did not keep thinking about the country they had left; if they had, they would have had the chance to return. Instead, it was a better country they longed for, the heavenly country. And so God is not ashamed for them to call him their God, because he has prepared a city for them”.(Heb 11:13-16)
The Christian is a stranger disposed in a land not their own. We are living amongst a people whose identity is one of self preservation and self interest, whose laws are constantly opposed to that of Gods laws. Spiritually speaking we are like temporary residents awaiting a future residency in our eternal home
As Christians we are in the most honourable state that any
person can be in during this life
